Mrs Maria Montessori
Maria Montessori was an Italian physician, educator, and innovator, acclaimed for her educational method that builds on how children learn naturally.
Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize three times, the celebrated physician and educator Dr Maria Montessori’s greatest wish was to improve the world one child at a time. She promoted peace by guiding children in their holistic development and assisting them in achieving education for life.
There are now thousands of Montessori schools worldwide, making it an international curriculum. The first Montessori school—the Casa Dei Bambini, or Children’s House—was in Rome on January 6, 1907. Using scientific observation and experience gained from her earlier work with young children, Maria designed learning materials and a classroom environment that fostered the children’s natural desire to learn and provided freedom for them to choose their materials.
Lotus Preschool curriculum uses an extensive range of concrete Montessori learning materials and internationally recognized experiences, which allows each child to be aided individually in their education to facilitate bringing out the best in each child. The children develop the core character skills mentioned under the highlighted values by setting their own goals and mastering them. The school participates in an ongoing charity initiative in which the children contribute in many ways. The children are asked to bring items to school which serve The Grace Factory.
